ANDREW NETHERY: WRITER & DIRECTOR
Born and raised in Palm Desert, California, Andrew was immersed in the Coachella Valley art scene from an early age. Growing up in the early 00's, his view of music and art was shaped primarily by the Coachella Music Festival and the local desert music scene. In high school, he spent his time playing in bands, hanging backstage at rock shows and filming music videos for friends.
While in college, Andrew took his love for music and transformed it into a career in filmmaking, working with musicians like Robby Krieger of the Doors, John Garcia of Kyuss, Ty Dolla $ign, Juicy J, Party Favor and many others. It was during this time that he developed a deep love for documentary filmmaking.
Andrew now has worked as a documentary filmmaker for over a decade. He has worked on films that have played at the Smithsonian Museum, on platforms like VICE Media, ESPN, and Complex. He directed an award-winning digital documentary series for Travelers Insurance, called "Unfinished Stories", to raise awareness about distracted driving.
Andrew was most recently awarded Best Director by the Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival for his debut feature film, "Bury Us! A Punk Rock Uprising”.
